I'm an Iranian American. There is no Internet. Only people who work for the government have limited Internet. We can't call phone numbers in Iran. They can call our phone in the US (they will get a sms or call shortly after ending the call saying that we the government was monitoring the conversation) and these calls are very expensive for them. This situation is not sustainable. There are many businesses in Iran that rely on Internet. Millions of Iranian live outside of the country and haven't been able to talk to their family and friends. Not sure how long will this internet blockade will continue.

It seems like you are great at repeating propaganda points and don't actually live in Iran because otherwise you wouldn't have internet.

I'm an Iranian and this protest is very different because it's not about a specific government policy ... It's about the totality of the regime. Unfortunately, government has been following the same old brutal playbook by killing protesters and cutting off the Internet.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but lambda model is when server responds then there shouldn't be a background task or any compute after that point otherwise how would lambda know when to stop or there wouldn't be a difference between lambda and VM.

I think we (hacker news community) can make a difference in dating industry by creating an open-source free to use dating app. Same quality as Hinge/Bumble but free of cost and free of algorithm manipulation. I have been thinking about it for a while. I am a software engineer but doing this requires a massive group effort. Maybe let's chat about it. amirhesamyan [at] gmail.com

In the Midwest city where I live, the price for a new apartment is almost or even more than a house in the suburbs. All these apartments usually end up empty or get rented out. Such a waste of money.

As a software engineer, PhD is worth it if you know what you are getting into. Especially now that job market is saturated, it definitely helps your career. It's a long journey but it's worth it if you know what you are doing.

I LOVE the idea. This helps a lot of people who want to make a dollar transaction but cannot just because they live in middle east. I am worried US government might come after you because this is essentially a way to get around banking system.
