ha, maybe I did by accident. and yes, "related" is the key word. my worst evenings were the ones where I threw three unrelated things at it at once and got all three half done.

the 128 bytes thing breaks my brain every time. I'm building a city in three.js with ~30k buildings and I get annoyed when a frame takes 20ms on a laptop with gigabytes to spare. counting cycles per scanline is a different sport.

I've worked in grocery retail, and this is exactly the boring problem that quietly eats money: a fridge drifts a couple of degrees overnight and nobody notices until the stock has to go in the bin. a cheap sensor with an alert for "out of range for 20+ minutes" pays for itself the first time it fires. the "too long" part matters more than precision, door openings make single readings useless

the paperclip escapement is genius. how long did it take to get the pendulum period right with cardboard? I'd expect humidity alone to mess with it.

I'm not a developer, I've been building a side project with Claude for a couple of months. the hardest part to budget wasn't the price per token, it was me. one vague evening of "fix everything" could eat a third of my weekly limit. what actually helped was writing down what I wanted before asking, and batching small fixes together. boring, but it cut my usage a lot.
