I can do anything I set my mind to, and have done enough things over the course of a career to justify that statement. I want to do great things for an innovative company, and want to work with teammates interested in the same thing. If you've got something interesting, I'd like to hear about it. Seeking a senior SWE position; I have some lead experience as a developer, but was also on the board of directors of a nonprofit, which indicates additional leadership experience.
I've also recently deployed Electric Minds Reborn[0], a revival of a 1990's era virtual community using original data and a new software system written in Go, the Amsterdam Web Communities System[1]. Just to expand my horizons.
[0] https://electricminds.org [1] https://github.com/amysoxcolo/amsterdam

People were calling the film "a two-hour Daft Punk video" at one point. Which would be pretty cool, come to think of it.
I do think they were a pretty good choice to follow on from the original movie's electronic score by Wendy Carlos.

I feel like this should have had a warning like the one on the Epiphyte business plan in Cryptonomicon.
"EXTREMELY SERIOUS WARNING: Unless you are as smart as Johann Karl Friedrich Gauss, savvy as a half-blind Calcutta bootblack, tough as General William Tecumseh Sherman, rich as the Queen of England, emotionally resilient as a Red Sox fan, and as generally able to take care of yourself as the average nuclear missile submarine commander, you should never have been allowed near this document. Please dispose of it as you would any piece of high-level radioactive waste and then arrange with a qualified surgeon to amputate your arms at the elbows and gouge your eyes from their sockets."

I guess I was bucking the trend with https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47720333, which points to https://electricminds.org.
The UI of Electric Minds Reborn (Amsterdam Web Communities System) was not AI-generated. At most, it was AI translated, as I used Claude to help turn old clunky 2006-era HTML into modern styling with Tailwind CSS.
Robert Heinlein proposed something like that in his "lost" novel For Us, the Living: instead of declaring war, Congress would authorize a war referendum, in which only those eligible for military service could vote. The catch was, everyone voting "Yes" would thereby automatically sign themselves up in the military for the duration. If a further draft was needed, it would first be composed of those that didn't vote, and lastly those who voted "No."
(In the book, the "future" Congress had called war referenda on three occasions; each time, the vote was overwhelmingly "No," and historians believed those decisions were justified.)

In 2001 Electric Minds was shut down by its then-owners. We, the community, raised money for a server, rebuilt it on software I wrote, and kept it alive for years.
I've now brought it back to life, complete with original discussions from 2001-2006, on a new software platform, the Amsterdam Web Communities System.
This is part history, part rebuild, and part experiment: can human-scale online communities still work today?
More on this relaunch: https://erbosoft.com/blog/2026/04/07/electric-minds-reborn/

This is a fantastic piece of work, AI or no!
Feature idea: For those of us who aren't familiar with The City, could you allow clicks on the image to identify specific landmarks (buildings, etc.)? Or is that too computationally intensive? I can identify a few things, but it would sure be nice to know what I'm looking at.

I'm reviving a project I last touched in 2006, in the hopes that it might be of use today in making social networking human again.
Back in the day, after the company I worked for bought the Electric Minds community and migrated it to its own CommunityWare system, and then the company that bought our company decided to shut the platform down, I reimplemented the community platform in Java and helped rescue the community. See: https://erbosoft.com/blog/2025/09/08/electric-minds/
EMinds eventually sputtered out because of the rise of platforms like Facebook. Well, now we see what came of that. So I think there's room for a platform like the one I used to have. See: https://erbosoft.com/blog/2025/11/03/what-we-once-had-and-co...
The new system is being written in Go. I'm porting the code over without using AI, though I have used Claude to translate the old crusty HTML pages into modern HTML with Tailwind CSS. Once it gets to the functionality I had back in 2006, I'll put it up...and then see about going beyond that, including how to make it distributed and provide more interoperability.
