Didn't Russia make a habbit of killing journalists who criticized either the old or new regimes from 1990 to present day? Pretty sure that was prevalent. Maybe they weren't tracking online much in the early days though.

I also noticed this.

We came up with a variant to fix this. You have to say what the next person in the circle said they'd do yesterday before your talk.

This forced everyone to pay more attention as you don't know who would be standing next to you tomorrow. It wasn't easy to do but I think it did make people more aware of what was going on.

I'm quite relieved that the higher ups were able to successfully de-escalate the situation. It is so easy to read about situations where some pompous military officer trys to escalate and kick start a conflict. But fortunately a situation that has gotten out of hand is de-escalated smoothly.

If you choose to read Atlas Shrugged, however, her opinions start to get more extreme and unsettling.

That gets tricky though, Can tradespeople can use their vans to do their food shopping? Can private citizens become a painter/decorator so they are then allowed a vehicle? Can a private citizen have a vehicle if their sister is disabled?

Usually depends on the type of option. If they are 'double cliff' then the employee stock option will vest automatically, if they aren't then the emplyee will lose them.

Simplistic yes, but also true. He became throughly disillusioned with socialism because he felt that someone like Stalin would always take control of it.

My interpretation was that he was always anti-authority, but his experiences led him to believe that an authoritian figure will always try to grab power and it doesn't matter what `side` they say they are for, power is their aim.

True he liked the spirit of his socialist militia but by the end I think he felt its spirit had been crushed and abused by others.

I highly recommend Homage to Catalonia if you liked Animal Farm. It really explains how Orwell became disillusioned with communism (while fighting for it).

I have used this pattern too. I like it.

One small problem is that depending on how your threading and cache works it might be possible for the cache to be cleared after the contains call but before the get.
