Codex has some OS-level sandboxing by default that confines its actions to the current workspace [1].

OpenCode has no sandboxing, as far as I know.

That makes Codex a much better choice for security.

The EU has less than half the emissions per capita compared to the USA.

The USA has uniquely high emissions (matched only by a couple oil states). This is not solely explained with affluency.

Motorola phones are made by Motorola Mobility, not Motorola Solutions.

Motorola Mobility is largely owned by the Chinese government.

The Chinese government is not gonna share your data with Israel/USA.

What I find particularity odd is that on their donation page [1], Daniel Micay's personal Github account is linked as a donation option (using Github sponsors).

(I opted to donate via bank transfer instead, because that is at least addressed at the GrapheneOS Foundation, not one specific member.)

PayPal's tap-to-pay also works without Google Wallet (and therefore on GrapheneOS). It isn't any more open than Samsung Pay though.

Is that still up to date? On Motorola Mobility's Wikipedia page [1] it says

Lenovo is a publicly traded company, and according to its shareholding structure report for 2025 [2] its main shareholder is Legend Holdings Corporation. (Lenovo is also listed as a subsidiary on Legend Holding Corporation's Wikipedia page [3].)

Legend Holding Corporation is again publicly traded, with all big shareholders being Chinese according to its 2024 annual report [4]. The biggest one is CAS Holdings with 30% of the shares.

The China Academy of Sciences is owned by the Chinese government.

So it seems like if Google still owns part of Motorola Mobility, it's not a main shareholder.

I was just about to change from OpenAI to Anthropic, however when signing up I get this message:

Then GrapheneOS is currently not an option, however they are working with another OEM to have non-Google phones available with GrapheneOS by next year [1].

I use the PayPal app with Tap-to-pay on GrapheneOS and I haven't been banned.

But of course that's entirely up to how their algorithm happens to feel about you.

As someone who doesn't have a Google account, I can use YouTube just fine on my GrapheneOS phone using apps like NewPipe.
