Love this. I tried my hand at reverse engineering some of these components on linear and similar websites but did not get good results. I love the fact these are configurable and free. Something I definitely would have paid for.

speed to ship = native is bit funny considering you have no control on the review process have the app store markets. Painfully slow process releasing anything natively

I have 64GB of ram, doesnt seem like its enough for Lightroom either. I think M3 has more GPU cores btw.

Not everyones a developer. M1 vs M3 performance boost for video editing seems like a decent upgrade. I'm still on M1 and I spent £4k+ on specced up MBP 14 inch. Its not struggling but it doesn't perform well when editing 4k with one layer of effects in DaVinci.

Can you detail your full specs of your current machine? you should be able to handle those tasks. Do you have a dedicated graphics card? SSD?

Have you checked activity monitor to see what the biggest culprit is?

[I now have M1 max, 64gb 14 inch - and don't have any issues. But previously I had Intel i7 mac, 13inch, 16gb ram - no dedicated graphics card and I never had issues with development, i upgraded for video editing]

Yes remote - all my clients are mostly clients from back home and companies i have worked with before. But i'm not getting much work as time difference is +7 hours and they sometimes want devs to be on during business hours. But cost of living here is cheap so i'm okay with it for now.

I have a BSc and an MSc and I don't ever want to work for FAANG. I work as a contractor and work only few months a year if it allows it. Rest of the time I work on my own side projects - the dream for me is for them to get successful. UK based but relocated to Asia. FAANG might seem like the successful endpoint but theres many exciting companies/startups out there that might make you feel more accomplished than working in a massive ORG.

'IF' - easy to criticise. Let's see how much time you invest into marketing vs the product itself. A lot of developers [solo at least] fall into the latter category. Been there many a time so I can empathise.

Developing with expo is a breeze. I've been using it for years and have no issues with it. The support from the team and community has been amazing.

Not a traditional blog, but i was looking at a service for my photography. I eventually almost went with squarespace. But felt pricing was too high if you wanted to add your own custom CSS etc. Also felt bit bloat and I wasn't happy with the templates.

In the end I just made my own from scratch and just use S3 for hosting [manual uploads, as i don't update it often]

simple HTML responsive grid, using tailwind CDN. No build steps.

My M1 max [14inch] was suffering with really bad battery life. Turned out it was sync plugin for VSCode.

I loved this game and purchased it on PS4 as soon as it was available. Had some fun games with friends too. Surprised to see it didn't sell well. Theres not many fun instant pick up and play local multiplayer games.

4k monitor at 27 inches costs less than 400 dollars. Unless its 10 bit with 1ms response time for gaming. Who is spending $3500 on monitor setups besides gamers?

thats just a re-marketing strategy for private rooms only. That itself didn't sell as well so the've remarketed it to make it sound more appealing.

Some of the changes [he tweeted them] have been great. But i think the price and nuance makes hotels a better and cheaper option. For short stays at least

disclaimer 'iOS does not support PWAs natively and packaging PWAs for iOS is Experimental. We can not guarantee that your app will be accepted into Apple’s App Store.' - i also doubt the PWA push notifications on iOS would work on a webview.

otherwise, very cool however the app store market monopoly is a joke. So are most of the user ratings on such stores. The beauty of PWA's is that there is no appstore or an over looking body - the internet is free!
