I like this idea! Perhaps folks will game less on PCs and consoles. But would they shift to playing on their phones? Or play less video games overall?
Also, when OpenAI's new device comes out, would people shift to talking to these small devices?

The abstract doesn't say that isolation is negative (I think). It just says WFH folks are more socially isolated.
For some people, more social isolation is OK. For others, not so OK. YMMV .
I personally think that more socializing is better, if it's with people who I become better by being around. The tough part is knowing who's good for me, and how I can find them.

The abstract of the article says that folks who have remote work are more socially isolated, even after work hours.
Maybe WFH allows folks to be more social with the people they want, but the abstract says that they socialise less overall, and are more socially isolated.

Do you think it's like when driving with GPS first became a thing?
Everyone stopped learning the roads & streets of where they were driving, but it was OK to lose that knowledge.
GPS companies revised their products to adapt to driver mistakes, and today driving is generally better with Google Maps, even though sometimes it can be worse (no internet, or when a bug arises).

Agreed! I think all new/aspiring DS should be told that even if we give a technically great argument, the PM/decision-maker might not adopt it. This surprised me & my colleagues when we first learned it.
I've heard of different DS organizational models, whether embedded in a cross-functional team like this DS, or on a DS-only team. The main downside I've heard for a DS-only team is that stakeholders just come to you for requests, and you don't build up domain expertise.
For embedded DS, how could we get them to have more decision-making power? The only solution I can think of for a product team is to have the PM have DS skills, which eliminates the need to have a separate DS on the team in the first place!
