A few years ago I used to help my father replace wheels in his car shop.

The lift was rather small and you couldn't get out of the car easily when you placed the car in the correct position for the lift's arms. We placed the car about a meter from the correct position, got out, pushed it forward and placed the arms.

For this to work you need to make sure the parking brakes are not engaged.

Am I the only one to stick with the std lib, read the docs and changelogs carefully, and implement functions I really need the way my application makes use of them?

I learned the hard way, that dependencies kill projects.

Not saying this isn't great, thanks for creating it! It does have its use cases, of course.

You may have success checking for common tracking and advertising elements in a mail. Good chance it's spam if there's not 100 trackers. Frustrating.

Lebara leaks information about other accounts

It is not as critical as it may sound at first. There are at least some endpoints in their API that do not verify if the given mobile number matches with my account. Like the registration details.

I wrote them on two channels multiple times but they don't answer at all.

How would you handle such a situation?

Yes, that’s impressive.

I’m not eating fast food since years now and don’t want to defend their business, but I always thought that the fast food you get at a huge chain like McDonalds is probably the most thoroughly tested you can buy.

I went through some rough couple of months and had talks with friends about the past, the present and the future.

I used to try and plan my future ahead up to the day I'm laying in bed and saying goodbye to my children. Every day made me nervous.

Well, nothing really went as I planned, but every turn in my life was worth it. That's just how life works, I guess. And that's good.

I had the best moments with my daughter in a holiday I never planned, I "accidentally" run my second marathon while doing a long run, I got the fittest in my life, and so on...

So, no matter if it's IT, gardening, or whatever... what were your unplanned accomplishments?

Hey, mailcow founder here!

That’s one of the reasons I stopped working on hosted mail. It has not turned to anything better with big companies putting their hands over it. It’s more controlled now but the same crap as before, just as dangerous and a bit more expensive.

Currently working on a system with as much control as possible but piggybacking existing providers' transports.

Why is the iOS keyboard getting worse every year?

I can’t be the only one who noticed.

No matter the model. It’s a pain to write with it. Writing faster or correcting longer words totally drives it nuts.

It’s slow, not precise and just not clever.

Centralizing power is a good point.

It feels like a huge dependency with a bunch of money involved.

I cannot _not_ see it clumping to a sentiment comparable to "you either AWS' or have no idea what cloud/network/cluster means".

We use these things like it’s actually "something". It’s not. We don’t build things with it. We configure other people’s software.

It’s born to be promoted as the next big enterprise stuff. You either know how to configure it or are not enterprise-worthy.

And that farts. Being dependent on someone else’s stuff has never turned out good.

Well, I mean. You can also not give a duck and squeeze out all the money. Work a job, abandon it and jump on the next train.

Feels useless, doesn’t it?
