I don't understand how she violated this law:

> Heller faces a charge of making a written threat of violence under Florida law. Florida Statute 836.10 makes it a second-degree felony to send, post, or transmit a written or electronic record threatening to kill or injure someone, carry out a mass shooting, or commit an act of terrorism.

She didn't threaten anything, she wrote down that she was going to do it. A "threat" is more than a mere statement, especially when written in what is described as a "diary".

Obviously I don't want anyone to shoot up anything, but this seems like a weak case legally speaking.

I don't love that this is necessary, and I wonder how much it will cost without an AppleCare subscription. If you have to pay $15/mo for coverage and the layer is likely to need replacing after a year, then you're looking at $170 between the monthly fees and the $20 charge. Of course, you'd also get the other coverage that comes along with AppleCare. Maybe they'll make non-AppleCare replacements expensive enough to make it seem like a no-brainer to get it since you'll want to replace the screen layer sooner or later.

I also wonder how many more bad-news bits they'll drip out in the weeks before the Duo is available for pre-order.

Makes sense that they waited until Siri was better to roll this out. I wonder how it will be priced. If it's a HomePod plus a screen plus more processors/RAM, it could be even more than a Mac, and not just the Neo.

The wall-mounted version might be cheaper if it doesn't have the pricey speaker included.

As someone who used to upgrade every year in my younger days, it feels weird to completely agree with you. Half the time I move to a new OS, it's because I got a new computer. I haven't upgraded my M2 MBA from 2022 ever.

I bought a MBA in 2022 and haven't ever upgraded the OS. It works fine for me, and the AI stuff seemed like it wasn't ready for prime time. While it might have provided some benefits, I was concerned that there would be more unexpected downsides.

I'd be curious to know what people think about Siri AI and whether it's finally worthwhile. I'm still running an old iPhone with no AI, so don't have much basis for comparison.

I always thought the eyedropper was so you could match color from an existing element. It never occurred to me to use it to use it in order to zoom in on the color wheel. Am I the only one who used it differently?

Ah, gotcha. I presume there's then substitution effects on both sides of the pond, but the US loses more on net from the Canadian shift from American to other wines.

Why? Thinking you won't prevail doesn't mean you can't try.

It would be different if they thought their claim had no merit, or were hiding evidence that it was a fraudulent claim. But here, it seems like it's just a slightly long-shot due to the timing. AFAICT there's no problem in pursuing claims like that, either for the client or the attorney.

Looks cool, though I'm hearing that Apple will be introducing a Homepod with screen, and I'd probably give that a try. I think their privacy is good enough, and it would be instantly integrated into my ecosystem.

The only EVs that offer this range are going to be very expensive. They'll either be from pricey companies like Lucid or they'll be extended-range vehicles from other makers. Are there any under $50k? Most are probably over $60k, and some will be double that.

How are they subsidizing ICE production over EVs? Or is it just that the subsidies are easier to get if you don't need to include rare earth elements, which EVs require, in your inventory?

I wasn't referring to the price hikes on the base model, which increased the price by 50%, to $60k. I was referring to the fact that, at first, they were fulfilling the high-end trims, which were even much more expensive than that. I know some people get a good deal on it, but it was pretty illusory to say they were going to sell for under $40k.
