Lovely article!
Contemplating the details of a thing is really satisfying. At times I find myself sitting there and trying to decompose the astonishing amount of work, research, both evolutionary and revolutionary progress that has gone into reaching the current level of something. Buying myself a coffee and stare at the local ferry and acknowledge that someones life's work went into figuring out how to make the paint stick to metal.
Naturally the other point also sticks.. I too often get stuck on the details. :P

While we've only used it for a small size greenfield project with 5-6 developers, we have been very happy with the user experience of Linear [1]. It ties reasonably well into GitHub and have plenty other useful integrations. Notion among others. I imagine this would cover many of the author's needs, and I think it also support GitHub as IDP.
[1] https://linear.app

> We have a WhatsApp group where they can ask whether something is dodgy. They don't use it for chitchat, so anything that comes through, I treat urgently.
I really like that idea.

Most of my family members (nuclear and extended) have little interest in spending time to manage their digital selves. Amongst other things making sure they have control of their passwords and accounts in a safe matter.
I've lately decided to set up a 1Password Family Account to help at least my nuclear family into taking net security more serious.
- What steps did you take to make it simple enough for your family to care?
- Did you retain any restorative powers? As in keeping master passwords to certain things and/or emergency accesses like in LastPass?
- Which subjects spurred the most discussions and how did you solve it?
- Which items do you share amongst all family members?
Edit: Formatting

As long as one haven't been stripped of all control of one's life and well-being, I'd say there exist but one true failure. It's the conscious choice of not ascribing to anything anymore. Giving up on all hope and deciding to be miserable.
Every other failure to achieve some goal is simultaenously an opportunity to learn. Being able to step back and look upon one's conceived failure with perspective and draw out positive experiences from it is an essensial life skill.
