I built a weather and hurricane tracking site for the Eastern Caribbean islands (https://dewedda.com). PHP, MySQL, Cloudflare, Visual Crossing API, Leaflet.js for maps.

The interesting part wasn't the stack. It was realizing how much the interpretation layer matters when you're building for a specific region. Wind descriptions, "feels like" calculations, condition summaries, all tuned for temperate climates by default. I've been reworking them for the Eastern Caribbean audience.

And pagespeed score reflects that. It does not matter if it’s in ram, most of the pages/load will be on the CDN and caching anyways.

Servers put the most requested into RAM also.

Built a simple hurricane and weather tracker focused on the Eastern Caribbean islands I call home. It updates automatically with the latest NHC and OWM data, includes an interactive map, and lets you quickly check conditions for multiple islands as well as CPA. I suck at UI, so feedback and suggestions on how to make this more useful and easy to use are welcome.
