As far as the "killing innovation" thing. Thats incorrect.
Browser manufacturers and HTML/CSS/JS have killed innovation.
Screen layout was a solved problem 40 years ago.
Also search has killed innovation by turning sites into content factories instead of building things that matter.
Google was and is a very bad steward of the web and is rightly dethroned by even fake AI.

The biggest problem with Java these days is java developers are not really good at all. I would say n the last 10 years 99 percent of "Java" devs cant competently read a stack trace.
Im not sure why anyone would improve this language when the developers are so frankly pathetic. Let them use 1.8. The ecosystem has improved. Devs have gotten worse.
Java has become a land of opportunists just trying to pass of their non-Java maybe non-programmer skills

Diminishing returns is an ugly business. And thats obviously where we are at. The end not the beginning of LLM "innovation".
Any technology that creates "sysiphian" tasks, is not worth anyones time. That includes LLMs, and "Big Data". The "herculean effort" that never ends is the proof in the pudding. The tech doesnt work.
Its like using machine learning for self driving instead of having an actual working algorythm. Your bust.

Thats ok. We have done enough language research to build another powerhouse language that is AI resistant that practitioners can use. Its uptake is only relevant to those that wish to exclude LLMs from the picture to resist the agents. When LLM agents are everywhere secret societies will become the norm.
We may even have the expertise to actually transpile every single program into a unique programming language so that if the source were available LLM bots would not recognize it in any volume enough to learn from it.

The only languages Im interested in are future proof AI resistant languages. Since LLMs need alot of training (because they cant read language ASTs and write code correctly), a language that either isnt possible to express using fonts and character sets on the Internet, can only live in a private cloud, and is known to only verified practitioners runs on everything, and yet cant be decompiled.
You can launch a nuclear war in 5 lines of Visual Basic. I want a language AI doesnt know and cannot ever know.

This is similar to the "rare earths" myths floating around. Its a prepper story for sure.
"Rare Earths" are literally everywhere but require large open mines which are not environmentally acceptable and cost effective in the US (depending). The existing mines are still here but shut down decades ago.
Ask Apple how it feels about paying a pretty big chunk of money to reopen one.

Little curve good, big curve bad. Imagine its 20 years ago before these monitors were made and you had multiple monitors.
Ever see a dashboard chihuahua? (Or on the rear deck of a car).
Thats you if you use a multimonitor setup. Do that for even 10 years, your neck hurts and your focus is distracted because you cant look straight ahead at your work and are constantly turning your head from left to right all day.
Its a bad ergo. Little curve good. Big curve only for gaming immersion.
I refuse to use dual monitors even if a 27 inch panel is provided.

The rights of ownership do not change because of technology. Technology as we are coming to understand it in its maturity (but immaturity of its practitioners) has come to serve largely only some veiled or unveiled form of thievery. Paper was just as easy to copy as an MP3. And material could be stolen through other means very easily.
Wishing away intellectual property rights after you have stolen the entire Internet for profit, is simply your "get away car".
Regardless of how this ends, the tech industry will be seen for what it is. A den of thieves and will never be forgiven.
Smart people will stop using public repositories for source code. Open source will die. Programming languages will emerge that LLMs dont know anything about and work will continue in private. Bots will be banned.
You cannot win this war.
