My main trick is to use fish and enable vi key bindings. Especially on mac where there is no Home And End functionality.

I don't know about where you work, but in my neck of the woods if you want to be employed you will be reviewing AI PRs, there is no escaping that.

I kept hearing about meditation. And at one point I tried it. With one app that was given to me for free through my employer's benefits.

It had a counter of your current uninterrupted streak. (Meditating every day) I kept at it. First for 5 minutes a day. Soon for 10m a day. Then 20m

Then twice a day at 20m.

Then semi-guided, and in the end unguided (only a beep at the end).

I never felt anything from it. Truly. Nada. Not better, or worse or calmer or more present or really really nothing.

Yes while meditating I would catch my mind drift, I would come back to the breathing and continue the count.

After this has been on for over 6 months and my counter of my streak was nearing 200. I decided to skip a day, only to see if I would get back to it if my counter was back at 0.

Result?

I never meditated again. Could it be that did it wrong? Possibly.

Could it be that it just doesn't work on me? Possibly and this is the one explanation I'm going with

The whole thing is just...nothing

I also recently got JBD2 compliant driver merged into GNU HURD's ext2, and I'm now improving documentation, and things like that.

Yeah, perhaps its due to noone wants LLMs trained on their data for free. I don't know, at least for reddit there are still ways to get the data for free.

I am working on a reddit lead generator that pings you when someone wants a product like yours in real time, and It does so only when the intent is high.

Was using this only for my self, but i think it might be interesting for other people as well.

I guess I am very atypical. My first customer came from Reddit outreach, and also my second, and third and so on. None came from personal network (never really even tried that, maybe i should)

I know its going to stop being so effective at at some point, but so far so good. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Yeah I don't really use desktop systems any more. I just use a window manager and a few other things, and I'm happy with it

I heard from Ed Zitron that you can't really turn off "training" on these models even after they have been released because they need continuous re-training to keep up with the changes in the world and the language etc. Is this correct? if it is, can we even say that research can be turned off entirely?

Oh yeah, maybe 15-20 years ago, i started by Linux journey with Kubuntu, just because i loved how KDE looked, much better than the alternatives.

Sadly it was not difficult to encounter a bug at that time, so i gave up on it quickly. I wonder if it is in better shape now?

That is a good question, and I got to say i do not know the answer. From what i have seen Hurd's goals is to actually end up using Rump kernels for a lot of things, and i think that there is a Rump version of a file system that they might be able to use.

This again is just my thinking and I don't know what the big picture plan is.

I recently got this merged upstream and wanted to share the repository. Bolting a JBD2 WAL onto Gnu Hurd was an interesting learning experience

Also I had a redis clone from before, but with AI i separated the epoll layer from the actual database engine which made it sort of embeddable. And hooked that embeddable database into a JNI interface, and now it can run inside Android applications, sort of like a concurrent hash map, but one that lives off heap and has support for TTLs and mget, msel, mdel, hashes and all that. I use it for some silly android games.
