I’d think you’d want the VOCs to be captured by something, rather than floating around in the air where you could breathe them in. Combined with a HEPA filter in the air circulation system, this should be a good solution.

The article mentions that Apple paused the show due to geopolitical tensions and its own interests in the region (selling phones to middle eastern customers). Similar reasons to why they cancelled Jon Stewart’s show (which is also mentioned by the article). Slow horses doesn’t really have the same sensitivity - it’s a comedy, which gives it some cover.

Yeah, there are probably a few multimillion dollar app ideas in here, but of insufficient complexity or lowbrow-ness for the typical HN reader (myself included). The nano-banana template idea or the Q&A Walkman, for example.

Isn’t one of the main functions of the brain / nervous system to “filter” noisy sensory input data to provide a coherent “signal” to perception? Perhaps a smaller or more specialized model could do that if we ended up packing the “skin” of the humanoid with various sensors.

Exactly, now you’re a bank (or maybe selling unlicensed securities, either way it’s jeopardy).

We ended up revising the contract so that the credits expired after three years. That opened up its own suboptimal outcomes. It was a lesson that was very much learned by us.

On the topic itself - agreed that Anthropic should take a step back and review its policy around comms and good will in general. They’re supposed to be the “good guys” in the AI game - being up front about this stuff is table stakes for them at this point.

Accounting rules. If the credits last indefinitely, any unused credits cannot be counted as revenue. Ran into this at my last company when we signed a big contract and gave them hundreds of thousands of dollars in non-expiring credits. Our accountant went nuts when we told him.

This is awesome! Definitely some more obscure historical events in there. Agree that the scoring is a bit harsh, especially since the clips are, let’s say, somewhat impressionistic.

I’m nearby near Woodside. Same thing for me. Interestingly enough my issue has been upload speeds near 0.01 Mbs, downloads are generally fine.

Rumor has it the lines were cut somewhere but I haven’t been able to confirm.
