> this is a wildly bad-faith argument
No. Calling it illegal is just something people do because they hate musk. They fell into a loop hole and had no permits as they were technically allowed if they stayed in 1 spot for less than 364 days. EPA later determined they did not qualify and required permits, permits were later granted.
Musk operated in a grey area to run his business to avoid having an idle data center while other people dragged their feet.
I purposely cut off `illegal` because calling it `illegal` was bad faith to begin with. But it's not unexpected that musk haters will come out raising banners in protest.

> unpermitted gas turbines they've been running at their Memphis Colossus data center
Just a reminder that when you're building a business, having land and a datacenter ready and cannot be switched on, with idle staff, costs the business money.
xAI could only draw 7-8MW from the grid and needed to run 10s of 1000s of H1000s. They shipped in 15 gas turbines as a more permanent onsite power plant while TVA/MLGW worked on expanding the grid supply to 150-300MW.
So you can get upset at musk all you want, but he has a business to run, and waiting for a full grid build out isn't practical.

When FB was private Zuck had 57% of class B voting right stock. He retained this on IPO. My point is, if he did not have control over voting, before/after IPO, FB/Meta would not be where it is today. He prevented Ads being on FB for many years operating at a loss to grow FB while shareholders complained wanting to shove Ads all over the place.

I just like being able to pick up old projects that i avoided for ages, and being able to pull in HTMX and make it a bit more modern without rewriting in react/vue etc. And it feels like a modern app, not a 90s app.

Facebook would never have become what it is today if Zuck had lost control of the voting. It would have been sold 10 times over and prob not exist today. I suspect the same could be said for Mask and his businesses.

I love HTMX and use it in a few projects, but its amusing how whats old is new again. .NET Framework / Web Forms had update panels to do partial rendering of web pages back in 2005. Outside of .NET developers it got a lot of hate. But to a certain extent HTMX is a super well refined and more capable version of update panels and more.

The 2 things people need to remember:
1) China can (and does) use the models to influence the west. They train in false information about Taiwan and Hong Kong. Or pretend like history is in favor of China.
2) Ignoring the models containing false information, they are incredible. But you should be scared of running inference via the model creators directly. If you think your data is safe compared to running it via model providers in the US ( either frontier or model hosts like fireworks.ai ) then please let me know your bank details so I can poke around.
