Plenty of US citizens are canceling their vacations because they are afraid of reciprocity of treatment by immigration and people in other countries. And some US citizens, yes citizens especially immigrants & minorities, are also worried about abuse by border patrol upon their return.
No one wants to go on a vacation where they have to deal with unnecessary stress.

> If you had some that you would categorize as only bullying people that bullied others, would this fit with a justice perception? How does this account for someone "repenting," as it were, of bullying?
I think some of it was complex rivalries. Bullies on the top were the cool kids who cared about their image a lot. They mostly bullied bullies who were challenging their status. They were also more sophisticated in their bullying and have other bullies do the dirty work of physical fights.
Then there were hero bullies who targeted other bullies. These hero bullies were usually stronger kids and really looking for fights. They didn't care about their images as much. A lot of time they were already in trouble with school. They would become protectors of the weakest kids. But they were probably the most violent and beat up the bullies of those weakest kids pretty bad. Maybe they had a savior complex. We really considered them heros at the time but now I realize that they went too far and probably pushed their victim bullies to get more violent.
> For many, it often isn't even a choice moreso a by product of the general environment they find themselves in
Yes, it was indeed the environment, at least, for some kids. Almost every kid was victim and a bully at the same time. We were like dogs, there was power hierarchy that was constantly challenged and enforced. Things would be fine most of the time if you didn't challenge anyone, every once in a while someone try to establish their dominance over you by verbally or physically assaulting you.

I agree, somewhat.
In my high school, there was hierarchy of bullies. Some bullied other bullies. The victim bullies bullied other weaker kids. And some bullies only bullied other bullies, they were considered heros.

> For most folks, focusing on doing your full time job well and getting promoted/finding a better paying job is _significantly_ less effort than starting a side hustle that pays you meaningful money.
I agree that for most folks looking to maximize money, it is better to stay focused on doing their job well.
But not everyone is same. I have a friend who wanted more freedom and spend more time with his kid. He started ecommerce site as a side hustle. He quit his job when his side hustle was making enough money to cover his expenses.
After that he started more ecommerce sites in different niches. Right now, he may have 4 sites but he has tons in work, he doesn't talk about all of them until they are semi-successful. With all those sites, he still works less than 20 hours a week and makes close to what he can make as an engineer. One thing though his wife also works and they get insurance through her work.
I also wanted to do my own thing but I was focused on tech based side hustle. I thought that would be easier but now I think tech business on the side is harder especially with a family. If I do it again, it would be a low tech or old school side hustle.

> To support this, we are required to post a fake job ad for their position
I believe this would be considered immigration fraud.

They might create an AI-generated person who closely resembles your friend but not exactly. If they do it undetected, it could have a massive impact. Imagine an ad featuring someone who looks just like your crush. I really hope this gets banned before anyone tries it.
This scenario reminds me of Amazon Prime’s Live TV with hyper-targeted advertising. A friend who has it noticed that his ads revealed what he and his wife had browsed on Amazon. It was fun at times to see that we’d all been looking at the same items, but it also felt a bit too personal. Now he never turn on his TV whenever guests visit.

It is still weird. Imagine you try out Photoshop online with your private photos. A few minutes later, you start seeing ads with those same photos edited in different ways. Even if those ads are visible only to you, it will still feel pretty creepy.
