We've made a decision: we prefer to continue having this world (and all its conveniences including steak multiple times a week and flying for cheap) and lose it soon-ish than move to another one right now with less access to... stuff.

And the only way we can have it differently is with violence, which nobody wants. So we'll walk to the abyss together.

The Buddy3D camera has a firmware update recently, now it can RTSP stream inside your LAN and you can force day/night detection. Also, it saves timelapses to a local microSD. Still not super cheap, but yeah.

I see this as an absolute win - EU tech businesses get bolstered, and we no longer depend on the country that apprehends tourists[1] or denies entry to scientists because their social media has unfavorable opinions about their great leader[2]. Call it whiny, I call it common sense.

That's the thing all these "easy bake recipe for success" blog posts miss: it's all about the people. I've been in companies with the exact same processes and wildly different outcomes because staff was more competent (which includes soft skills) and experienced.

But that is anathema to tech companies that think having the right X (agile, Spotify guilds, kanban, etc.) will fix everything because that's what they sell to end users.

The Dems exist to give you an illusion of choice. This has gone down exactly as planned, or why do you think rich donors play both sides? Do you really think the Dems are this naive and keep messing up without it being on purpose?

Good to see someone with an actual plan to roll out affordable EVs. Too bad it's BYD, the knock-on effects on Tesla and VW Group will not be pretty. I mean, unless the US and EU tariff the hell out of imports. Australia doesn't care, since they don't car makers anymore after Holden's demise (right?).

Non-technical users leave defaults on all the time - do you really think there wasn't a sense in some people IE _was_ the internet? Don't you think MS wanted it that way? The "Connect to the Internet" icon on Windows 98's desktop had the IE icon on it!

And this wasn't "these days" when "a free browser is included with every device", it was 1998.

I think you're being dense on purpose.

"Rather nebulous"? What's nebulous about leveraging your position on the market to drown out competitors with a free browser bundled with your operating system?

If Amazon redirected all search results of a product to their own version of it, omitting all others - would that be nebulous as well?
