iPads in general aren't expensive, just the Pro + keyboard.

This year I wanted a new iPad but decided against the Pro and just got the base model which is extremely affordable, IMHO.

I strongly advise the podcast "Robot Or Not". The hosts have very strong opinions on what exactly constitutes a robot, and readers write in with edge cases. It's been going on for a long time, so nowadays they also categorize other things.

Nothing self-aware about it, it's just LLM output. I'm not trying to be flippant, I just feel really strongly that you shouldn't use words like "self-aware" about an LLM.

I’ve put that article on my reading list. Yes, I think it’s true that there are situations where the science is used to support “telling the story”. As a counterpoint, I got taught about the “illusion of learning”, where it’s pretty clear that a regular college lesson (teacher droning from a PowerPoint), retention is down the drain. So we teachers know that a good curriculum should incorporate repetition and exercises.

Now the question is, are these curriculi being rebuilt? Here in The Netherlands, yes.

Why do you say so? What is your experience?

I recently did a course on teaching bachelor-level education, and had to study a couple of books. They all seemed to quote their sources and I got the impression that they're rooted in science.

This is a question for the sake of curiousness; the article writer shot a couple of pictures of young black kids. I can't find any mention in the article, but is this just coincidence or is this commonly done becauses the darker skin is hard to shoot correctly?

Good one, yes. It was like that in Objective-C, and in the early versions of Swift. I know you know this, but it's useful to summarize for myself:

Basically inheritance is the wrong tool for this kind of stuff. NSMutableArray inherits from NSArray, so it can be passed to anywhere NSArray is expected (upcasting).

So you design your classes and expect them to be immutable, but you can't use NSArray anywhere. Because otherwise, it'll be mutable after all. You can do a runtime check as a workaround.

(I truly believe OOP should only be taught in computer science as a relic).

There are many. We have an online supermarket with an app (Picnic) who don't support iPad, don't support landscape, don't support dark mode, etc.

I bet it's due to product managers not caring about those.

Also, every iPad has a full window server. So any app that was available for iPad, should've been resizable in any shape.
