It's interesting how the rich and powerful so fear death. I suppose it is to do with who will take over the wealth and power they have accumulated. It is a millstone they can't let go of.

A lot of what you describe has been enhancements and scaling. Folks have been working on AI for 70 years. Do you count putting it into the hands of you and I a breakthrough? Otherwise self-attention would certainly count but that is nearly a decade old.

I think you have answered your own question. The children who need this ban most are the children of parents who don't pay attention/care what their children are doing. So the state has to do it for them.

Each of us is the centre of our own little world. When we speak it is of no value except to the person listening[1]. The collision of these two facets creates most of the problems. Without going into to much detail, what your listener needs should be your first and often only concern. All too often people speak based on what they themselves need. As an example if you are talking to a group you know well, you may still have a need in yourself to break the tension, something they don't need, so to do so is self serving.

Obviously in, say, an interview you need to give a good impression. I am counting that as what the listener needs.

[1] sometimes what you hear yourself say can be relevant, but rarely!

Wow, I'm a Christian and I am not sure I want to be told those are failures. That list is more akin to what you get in extreme authoritarian regimes. I'm hoping there's some room for Jesus.

Humans are good at actually knowing what they are talking about. When they say "horse" they generally understand what one is. AI today doesn't have a clue.

What? What has been achieved? There were folks in animal skins who owned a disproportionate amount of the world's resources. And those were real stuff, not money - an abstract human invention.

There is too much fantasy economics in this. There is no magic money tree which would otherwise pay for this care. If savings were not used, the alternative would be crippling taxes. People's dreams rarely reflect reality.

And I am involved with a similar situation before I am accused of being an outsider.

I remember headlines like " "Scotland filling up!" when they found that more vehicles were going North on the Forth road bridge than were going south. It turned out that people planning a trip around Scotland would go anticlockwise.
