Did you advocate for yourself? Doing good work is half the battle. The other half is "sales and marketing" i.e making sure that people are aware that you're a good worker.

Why would, say, a Ruby developer need to know any of these things? I don't think most US developers are familiar with them, other than during tax season.

Ironically it's technology that's shortening the gaps between offshore / onshore resources.

Your doctor has significantly more education and training than a PA or NP.

The additional cost of seeing a doctor would quickly be recouped by the reduction in unnecessary / inaccurate referrals that would come from a lesser-trained medical professional.

No way. Military contractors are barred from hiring overseas, or giving up ownership stakes to overseas entities. It's why they're great places to work if job security is your thing.
