I used Ink for a game I worked on (Tender: Creature Comforts). It’s pretty intuitive and very easy to learn, so if you have a kid who wants to give video game development a try, I’d really recommend this one.

The entire game wasn’t coded in Ink, so I’m not sure if it’s possible to do that or not, but you can get all of the dialogue done in it!

1. I run a Discord server for people immigrating to Portugal.

2. Transparency in moderation is key. I have as few rules as possible and keep them as unambiguous as I can. This scales fine (I have moderated larger communities before). For my current community, I have a channel where I discuss the circumstances around each ban or muting. This is really only possible because of the size of the server—if it becomes too difficult to continue doing so, I will cease, but I will make sure to inform everyone in the server so they are aware.

3. I have not monetized the community at this time. When it gets larger I plan on forming relationships with vendors (such as language teachers, immigration lawyers, or rental companies) allowing them to run paid server events or sell services while paying me a % of earnings.

What about federal jobs? The pay is definitely lower but it comes with amazing health insurance, you can stay for the rest of your career, move wherever you want, & they can’t really afford to be ageist—they don’t have enough candidates.

Have you tried Brave Search? It’s not 100% yet but it’s better for many searches. I made it my default and only use Google as secondary now.

I wish the author had called out some of the blockchain-based initiatives he’s seen. It’s frustrating to read an article that complains about a problem, acknowledges people are working on it, but doesn’t link to or explicitly name any of the efforts.

There’s absolutely a male equivalent. Almost every male “real estate professional” I know makes money mainly through nepotism.

They do tend to have the same thing in common: flashy IG posts and the constant refrain of “work hard, play hard”.

Google is awful. I worked at a company in a now-legal business with a YouTube channel from the not-as-legal days… it has incredibly unprofessional and embarrassing branded footage and there was nothing we were able to do to pull the channel down. (No one currently working there has the login)

I believe so. When I was working in customer service, I had an English coworker. He said that the way customers treated us regularly would probably never have happened in England. Not once. Things haven’t gotten better since then.

Some men do. You can dye over it and use a product like Touch of Gray to make it look more natural, as well.

The first sentence of the abstract is already incorrect—acne is not a disease unique to humans at all.

I don’t have a full list of species that get acne, but I know that cats can get it (Sphinx cats are particularly prone to it!

If the very first sentence is wrong, I question the rest of them.

I think you put it really well. I’ve gotten to a place of financial stability and shave realized how precarious it still is. I can weather small car emergencies but when it comes to medical bills, that’s a different story.

I’m just working on emigrating to a country with a better social safety net. I’d rather pay more in taxes (though tbh it’s about the same) and not have to worry anymore.

It depends on where. A few years ago, I lived in a falling-down house in a family neighborhood of mainly immigrants. There was a school a few blocks away, and kids used to come hang out in our trees (I’m pretty sure they thought the place was abandoned) and occasionally set off fireworks by the creek we lived next to.

I wouldn’t have called the cops on them since they weren’t causing any real trouble, but if my neighbors did, no one ever came. There are bigger problems in that town (like the feral fucking dogs) that the cops refused to do anything about.

But honestly, most of the neighbors were familiar with each other and let their kids roam pretty free. It was nice to see that places like that still exist.

Where I work, store brand gives us a huge margin, even at a low sale price. There’s not a single middleman trying to extract a profit.
