It's very common for large companies to "close" or downplay vulnerabilities. That doesn't exempt researchers from responsible disclosure timelines. There have been plenty of instances where a company reverses course after some back & forth and the looming threat of going public.

In the U.S. at least the incentives are perverse. Probably what would actually move the needle is a test trial with results showing it's more cost and resource effective

The predominate reasoning for a long time now has been lotteries are addicting and bad but a small demand is guaranteed. Therefore, in the name of maximizing social benefit, only the government should run them and the profit is used to funds something less partisan (e.g. education, parks, conservation, gambling addiction services)

For these private betting firms, it's open season trying to find whales like mobile gaming, and there's no end to their greed and exploitation.

Practically all routers are made overseas. So unless new factories get built ASAP the U.S. is all but guaranteed to have a router shortage and a thriving grey/black market

There have been instances where GitHub has banned users for using an email address from a custom domain. If your account is associated with an enterprise plan the chances of that happening decrease significantly. Also puts you in much better position for recourse

Probably not base case but a quick test to replace my audio player (currently using Plyr) turned up the following gaps for me, at least with the out-of-the-box code.

1. No playback rates under 1

2. No volume rocker on mobile

3. Would appreciate having seek buttons on mobile too

4. No (easily apparent) way to add an accent color, stuck with boring monochrome

5. Docs lacked clear example/demo/playground so I wasn't sure what it would look like until implemented

YouTube does not respect its users, their preferences, or improving their platform. If it did, their website would function a lot like SmartTube, made by a solo dev. Instead, they're on a slow march of enshittification with shorts in every nook and cranny. Even just recently they made changes to the subscriptions page so it wasn't chronological for some users.

Refurbished by Apple devices tend to be really good deals, not sure why this is being knocked. It's also better for the environment
