Incredible. Always wanted to do this. Would be lovely to even just have details of the places I have visited.
Something to keep secure though. With AI scams taking off, this kind of context could make it very easy for someone to scam your friends/family

I used wired headphones not only because Bluetooth can be a pain but because I hate noise cancellation and all bluetooth headphones seem to have it (even when it is turned off, it does “something” that messes with my ears)
I am convinced noise cancellation is causing me tinitus and I don’t seem to get it when I use normal headphones

I feel the same with my friends from school but the reason we feel like that is that school forced us to be together and a deep friendship was forged as a result.
In adulthood, that forcing function doesn't exist so you have to make the effort. So regardless of whether or not it "feels natural" to go "friend-hunting" (it doesn't to me either), if you don't do it, you will be without friends.
It's also worth framing it to yourself differently. Friend hunting sounds awful and fake but organising fun/activities for similarly minded people seems more positive

I think this will go full circle (as the article indicates). Ultimately , the parents are the “customer” of education institutions as they send their kids there with the goal of them getting good grades. For now, getting a good grade regardless of whether you got it honestly or not should result in you getting a job and therefore the parents are happy.
But as soon as employers understand that the grades don’t mean anything, they will start prioritising students from places that are more strict e.g. through in person only exams etc.
Once this happens, parents, and therefore schools, will start to prioritise this more.
The sad part is that a generation of kids are going to pass through school and come out dumb and ill prepared for life while the systems corrects

“They were young and older, professors and small business owners (even an Army colonel!), Republicans and Democrats, from big cities and small towns”
It’s just so bizarre to me as a non-American that someone would go to the Galapagos Islands and come away knowing the political affiliations of the people they were with. It shouldn’t even need to come up

My biggest problem with Markdown is that I hate writing in it. I find messing around with the syntax interrupts my flow.
Are others writing raw markdown/mdx or is there a CMS/Vscode plugin I should be using? (I have a few plugins already but find the writing experience pretty rubbish still)

Awesome. I have been meaning to give this a try so this is a great nudge.
Given the permissions you expose, it looks like it is possible to write a plugin to get account activities from something like Plaid so I don't need to keep importing - am I understanding correctly?

I used to be really good at spotting it but my AI radar is getting less effective now. Often I don’t notice until late in an article which is very annoying.
There are some videos on Instagram that I didn’t notice were AI until my wife told me!
If I want AI content, I will go to an AI. The only good outcome is that I am spending way less time on social media because so much of it is now AI
