> It is not ai-generated. It was hand-written by a friend and colleague with deep respect in the education community.
I hate to tell you that perhaps your friend has not been forthcoming. I encourage you to check the 'citations' yourself, and perhaps to do some study on what LLM texts look like.

Funny you say that! Her citations are bogus, exactly as an LLM would produce. But please just read the article, it's as redolent of LLMs as any LLM text could be.

>There is a long works cited at end[sic] of the post
That is not a works cited section because there are no citations! It’s a list of references - and I wish there had been citations so I could test the author’s claims.
Also, no comment on whether these constitute made-up citations, but (courtesy of an LLM, each confirmed by me):
Silverman (#3): Wrong author. That essay is by Stephanie S. Tolan, written for Hoagies' Gifted Education Page in February 1999.
Dana Winkler & Alan Voight (#4): The paper is real but the authors are named Daniel Winkler and Adam Voight. This doesn’t sound like your friend actually wrote this article…
Dodson (#1): article's actual title is "Emotional Regulation and Rejection Sensitivity," Attention Magazine, October 2016.

This is not a handwritten piece. There are many indicators of LLM usage, more than I have time to list. The subheadings are the most egregious indicator - no natural writer composes titles that way, but Claude regularly does this.
Edit: confirmed elsewhere, several of the citations have fundamental errors that make me wonder if the author has ever read them. I encourage you to spend more time reviewing the things you publish

I can't respond to your newest comment but essentially 'rejection sensitivity dysphoria' is not in the DSM-V, so to acknowledge it one needs to have both a definition and some reasonable experience with the diagnostic entity (i.e., it's not enough to read about a disease to be able to diagnose it).

One should be careful with vibe-written / vibe-aided articles here. Who knows what is actually supported vs what sounded okay and the author (who is not a clinician) then signed off on.
Even the core idea, 'rejection sensitivity' is acknowledged not to be a diagnostic entity: so then how can we make definitive comparisons? Maybe clinical gestalt... but the author is not trained to see and evalaute patients.

> agreed but that is not what they are talking about banning
I think you misunderstand me. I think what is proposed to be banned (employers of doctors who are PE firms) should not exist. It is strictly not necessary, and there's an excellent example of the consequences playing out across Massachusetts right now (which explains the bill's introduction by Warren)..
I'm not sure how we decided only lawyers can run law firms but that anybody can operate a hospital...

> Venture capital has been essential for progress in medicine
VC's can still fund companies that are making expensive new products.
Banks (and PE...) can still underwrite loans for these things.
We have many solutions for capex-intensive businesses and have had these for over four hundred years.
This is a collection of pet projects by folks who are not distinguished biologists. Interesting, maybe, but not to be placed on the same pedestal as the mathematics Millenium Prize of a similar name.
Arguably, the origin of life is a question for all time -- no way that a VC webpage is going to change whether someone takes that problem on, and it will be commercialized with big-name capitalists instead of 'FutureHouse' should it ever be developed in the lab.
