I guess the real question at the end of the day -- how dependent are people on Claude to tolerate that kind of behavior? It certainly opens up for the competition to explicitly not do that.
Feels like a big fumble from a strategic business perspective. It feels worse than that though.

Equities rise and fall. Unless you fully cash out that stuff can materially drop and if you do materially cash out - it can inflate away.
Sorry to be a downer but there is no certainty on the future especially with the level of chaos being sown in the western world as a function of a few key people.

Well I think those are different.
Most everyone outside of a core believer knew metaverse was a bad investment and total value destruction.
Im not sure that Apple's strategy will pay out -- they may avoid the heavy capex lift but if that strategy is successful they ill have missed the strategic upside. Thats the part the jury is out on.
They've taken a more deliberate approach which might be the winning one ... tbd. We should re-check this in 3-5 years to re-assess.

Apple's incentives don't align to sell private data as their whole thing is privacy. They do that they tank their business. If you have proof that they are doing it -- I'd love to see it. (*3rd party actors from an app re-selling data doesn't count)
Google is 100% doing that because thats their entire incentive for the business. They sell low cost software / subsidized hardware on the grounds that you pay with your sharing data. That's the implied cost.
Show me the incentives - I will show you the outcomes.

I was going to go with money -- the amount of money to put kids through soccer in a competitive program in USA/CANADA is way more than the competitive programs in europe. That immediately drops down the amount of talent that can make it through the system + anyone who is particularly good and has any connections to europe goes there to level up faster by playing more competitive players.

I'm guessing your past this option but you could try a Montessori classroom -- less structured and allows children to chase their own pursuits. My sense is its stronger for years 1-6 as opposed to later years. Also it doesn't feel like Montessori tries to grind down the children - school/teachers dependent for sure (same could be said for other systems).

Whats new about this? We've had data centers for 20 years now? Research which impacts?
Only thing new is speed of deployment and scale - which frankly would align with why we can't build in North America.
I would agree that the political system is the place to push if you have real concerns about the our data center / AI build out - and that will be a huge part of this next election. No other way to either accelerate or decelerate outside of macro economic factors outside our countrol.
