According to Microsoft programmer Raymond Chen on his blog The Old New Thing, Red moon desert was originally intended to be Windows XP's default wallpaper, but was allegedly changed due to some testers feeling it resembled a pair of buttocks, leading to O'Rear's other photo Bliss becoming the default wallpaper. While this wallpaper was temporarily set as the default wallpaper during Whistler, this story does not appear to be true; Bliss had already been selected based on extensive research by design manager Rob Girling and his team, and the Luna visual style shares the same color scheme as the wallpaper. It is more likely the wallpaper was set to default as a decoy; the unleaked Lab06 build 2415 predates build 2423, and shows Bliss set as the wallpaper.

Distributing something for free doesn't mean you don't have patent obligations if you do it in the country that patent is valid in. On top of that, many corporations do sell their distribution of Linux.

I'd want to blame Go's compatibility guarantee for this, but I can't because it wouldn't actually stop them from adding a proper solution for this..

Just like the magic comments, it's a sad thing to see appear in this language because it feels like magic incantations one has to know that bend over backwards to not actually extend the language to fit the use case.

Google builds the biggest browser. Mozilla receives most of its funding through Google (though they have mobile browsers with a default ad-blocker). Microsoft is in the ad business too.

To clarify why Anthropic wants to catch these parties: they save all session logs and sell them to other LLM firms (for distillation) and have been known to use stolen credit-cards to pay for the Anthropic accounts.

I'm quite all right with the first, not with the second of course.

I can't decide whether this person writes in the type of style that was apparently overrepresented in LLM training, or whether they heavily used AI to spruce up their writing. I'm learning towards the latter.
