I'm not exactly starting new startups once a year to keep up on this stuff but I can say I have yet to hear of any of these providers but Stripe Atlas within my circle. It also comes with $5000 in AWS credit which can be very valuable.

I just saw an ad on Twitter today from eToro saying basically "Doge is a joke. But seriously we sell doge and you can't deny the returns have been impressive this past year. Buy doge with us"
They were emphasizing the returns being impressive without the expected caveat "past performance is no guarantee of future results" stock brokers must make to ensure people think before chugging the hype.
Crypto exchanges have a duty to educate and make sure people aren't putting their life savings and taking out loans to buy crypto. That's not happening right now.

I don't think you can safely say less than 1% of Americans have had their identities stolen so they've done a hell of a job if you ask me.

It's not easy to refute when there are 10000x as many uneducated people as there are actual scientists who could be trusted to refute it.
This is how online communities work. Small number of moderators fighting off an endless stream of BS.
We can't encourage discussion on life or death matters when they are shared without even citing a single source! There is no debate, just emotional pandering.

This was removed because it was half-conspiracy and half-maybe-useful. In any case you can't encourage people to "share and debate" half-biased articles.
Share the actual studies! Debate those. How would that cascade across the industry?
We're finding a wide variety of those booming and those crushed by the current economic winds. How about you?

It was a bit of both. I don't think they had the infrastructure to support everyone, I think they had major growing pains as they tried to scale, and I don't think they had the experience to identify sources of partial-failure proactively which resulted in 40-360 minute effective outages that weren't as easy to fix as with AWS where we can shift the stack to a new AZ in minutes.
DO had no cross-"AZ" networking. We tried to form a tunnel but it was so unreliable they admitted they needed their own backbone to support that use-case but even when that did come out we'd still have to use public IPs...no VPC peer type thing. Our only option to switch "AZ"s was to have downtime and that wasn't acceptable.
We were able to increase capacity 300-500% on AWS for the same cost so there's a lot going on in the equation for us. We needed better capability to dynamically resize and more options for low-cpu high-memory. We needed better flexibility with disks especially by network like EBS but given their network issues I understand why they don't have that.

We stopped using it when we were always the first to notify them when they were having data center issues...always a switch or gateway or some other excuse causing major network issues.
Not to mention their security model allowed any instance to talk to another instance from any account until 2019....

Not unless the service requires a phone number in order to enable MFA. Some providers require the phone number for "recovery" purposes once MFA is enabled very much defeating the usefulness. Countless times we've heard of a helpful AT&T / T-Mobile / Verizon employee forwarding texts or generating a new SIM card for a scammer with a fake ID. It's just too easy.

Google maps 2012 refactor was what made it amazingly useful to me. The street names are much more readable now, they actually had a decent breakdown of the before and after and how the street names are much more readable overall now that they switched off of a "dumb" text fitting model vs their scaled text and "smart" placement of street names.
I wonder if your area has more trouble than most areas due to street shapes/density? The before and afters for me everywhere I've traveled and where I live are a huge step forward compared to old maps.
core77.com/posts/21486/google-maps-designing-the-modern-atlas-21486
I don't note that it's changed much from this 2012 release.
