<p>I mostly wanted to learn a bit about ''sentiment analysis'' without using LLMs or large models. The app scrapes headlines from 3 websites, runs a quick analysis and reports the results. The main results are then stored for each day, so that eventually I can add some analysis of the historical data.</p>

<p>Hello HN, I wanted to get into computational models for language, specifically for language evolution. This is pretty far from what I studied (undergrad in Physics and currently PhD in applied math.), at least on the linguistic side. 
I'm mostly looking for works that deal with how language evolves, or has evolved, and how you can simulate and reproduce this process.
I already had a look around, and it seems there are quite a lot of works, so if there are any experts that could point me to some specific papers or books, it would be greatly appreciated!</p>

<p>This is likely an app that solves a problem that literally no one had, but I was kinda bored, didn't find a widget for Mac that satisfied me, so I did this. Since I know nothing about AppleScript or how to 'talk' with the different processes going on in my laptot, it is 80% based on output from Claude, but it seems to work so...
Anyway, I'm sure it could be made nicer, faster, better optimized and plenty of other stuff, so if anyone wants to upgrade it just let me know ;)</p>

<p>It's kind of a general question, but I studied physics until my master and then moved to computer science for my PhD and I would like to keep track (more or less) of the latest (or more interesting) application of ML to physics. I was thinking about this while seeing some results about ML and string theory, I did a very quick search and I found something, but I was wondering if someone here had some better info. In particular I would prefer video lectures, but I know they're harder to find than papers or books. Anyway any help is appreciated!</p>
