This author misses the point because he is a geek. Ordinary users love Apple and do not care about these issues. Ordinary users throw money at Apple. Apple has some bugs to fix but overall the product is good, and that’s why they keep raking in cash. Saying good riddance to Tim Cook because of the system preference pane, among other trivial things (to most people), is simply misunderstanding business.

I always liked XMPP and SIP as messaging protocols. So easy to read and understand and implement. Both are extensible and can be made secure.

Life with young children is actually mostly dreary and stressful; the fun and excitement and reliving of childhood memories is 1% or less of life, in my experience. By time I realize I am having that <1% experience it is over. I still feel as though I am chasing after something vanishing and never catching it.

As a subscriber of NextDNS I say, first, this is cool, but second, don’t do it. I don’t want NextDNS to face some sort of judgment that will get it shut down. Just publish the “DNS tricks” so that people can DIY but don’t make it part of your service.
