It is unlikely that the amount of debris would reach Kessler Syndrome-levels of orbital pollution, which is what you are describing.

6.5 minutes is soft boiled for a large (in US egg sizing) egg. Soft boiled eggs don't have fully set yolks or firm whites. These are the kinds of eggs you use for ramen.

If you want a fully set yolk you need more time (about 10 min or so), but that's a personal preference.

Interestingly, Washington State (US) banned this back in 2017. I remember when I was younger actually getting these kinds of farms pointed out on a boat trip. The boat captain mocked them because they still legally called themselves "wild caught", since they existed in open water instead of farms.

LA is one of the most car-centric cities I've ever seen. "we can have less parking" would require a fundamental shift in culture.

Doing it right after a major fire where people are alive precisely because they were able to put themselves and a few belongings into their personal vehicle and go where they could shelter with friends or family is bordering on an impossible ask.

By that logic, also the CO2 footprint of manufacturing and transporting the fuel for an equivalent ICE vehicle, which is always conveniently left out of such calculations.

A more generous reading of that argument might be "we don't need one authored in the 21st century", not that textbooks would never need reprinting and last forever through two dozen owners

I suspect "MRI-strength electromagnet" falls into a different budget category than "medical grade and certified imaging system", including but not limited to "MRI removed from hospital and junked because it's no longer maintained / useful / accurate enough". They are pretty resourceful

I don't mean to post a low-effort response, but Betteridge's law of headlines seems to apply here.

If the answer to the question posed in the headline was "yes" they would have stated it as such.

Instead it seems that "don't change things despite the world changing, decreased availability of resources, and increased completion for said scarce resources" is the main thrust of the post?
