HA HA HA HA HA I really hope the C-suite that decided this gets no bonus and hopefully a salary cut this year. Stupid, anti-consumer measures like this need proper consequences so they stop happening. Until then, let's keep boycotting companies with anti-consumer practices.

Don't ask me why but I did feel a tiny bit bummed out after getting 50 and being told I'm in the 68th percentile out of 13000~ people.

It's worth considering who the other participants are, has this been mostly shared just among University of Cambridge students / staff (and HN readers now)?

Lived in Romania until I finished high school. Professors would always push us to compete in the olympiads, there was an informal system where some professors, even if they were not the one teaching your class, would take you under your wing to prepare you to hit county/national/international level, you’d be allowed to skip school for a week/month depending on the level you got to, there was even some prestige to be gained.

I was personally never motivated to go past county, but it was a fun time.

Hi! I was a Sublime Text fan throughout University, and I would have loved to continue using it. Unfortunately for me Sublime lacks too many necessities, and that forced me off Sublime and onto the much slower VSCode.

I really wish Sublime would develop a more solid plugin system and have some sane built-ins such as a terminal.

I have seen a couple of snarky comments about how AoC is just a competition for who can write an input parser the fastest for 25 days in a row, I'll just share the following:

Just write that once, put it in a template /day0 folder that has /day0/part1, /day0/part2, and /day0/input.txt, and then just copy it and focus on the actual problem. It's all about having fun!

I just rely on Apple's iCloud contacts, you can add people into groups if you just want to see subsets of them, and it's enough. Sometimes simple is good.
