Reality gets distorted.
I've seen Kehinde Andrews defend Arday repeatedly about plagiarism.
He says
1. It was deemed "misquoting" and poor scholarly work that should've been caught by his advisor
2. And the university did an investigation and ruled it wasn't plagiarism.
Basically, the mom who will always love their ax murderer son.

> He got sacked from Emmanuel College
This sounds worse than reality.
That was an unpaid research affiliation, while he was holding a separate, paid research fellow position at Cambridge.
Cambridge didn't fire him from his paid job, which was a terminal, three-year fellowship.
Clearly, the tone comes because the accused weren't guilty of the alleged crime (as you rightfully pointed out), and saying someone's behavior is expected to be bad isn't defending them.
The parent comment is just edgy pontification.

This is right.
Then "true cost" requires a rabbit hole of business expense write-offs, fixed v. marginal costs, speed, comfort, (sub-)leasing, which airport you fly into, O&M strategies, and more.
Per the article, your fractional share of a 10M plane with 1M/y of maintenance gets you 100 hr/y.

That's the point.
The grandparent said Rocket doesn't slip into despair, not tries not to slip.
That's unrealistic and tracks with toxic positivity. If everyone had the muscle to process their initial and secondary emotions in a calm manner, then airport bookshelves would be empty.
You even ask how people can get swept in such situations when the pathologies for trauma bonds and "s/he beats me because they love me" are pretty clear.

Not really.
In practice, skipping the line is THE approach. How many times do you hear people say to fill out online job postings? Never. It's just scaring off good/bad candidates and bums who dont have an employee referral.
It's not even cynical to say a lot of postings are performatory compliance steps when they've already got internal candidates lined up.
