You don't need a massive government program for this.
Just post on r/DataHoarder: "Free 16TB NVMe SSD to anyone who indexes and mirrors the entire out-of-print 20th-century physical archive." The problem would be solved by next Tuesday. With probably 10x redundancy and people willing to do it for free for fun.

Realistically the vast majority of those books haven't been touched for half a century and won't ever be read by a human again. It is a price to destroy these, but it's a price I would pay for progressing models towards AGI and the billions of lives it will save.

This is why coins like Ethereum Classic needs like 50k confirmations which is a 1-2 week waiting period for deposits, since blocks take like 15 seconds to mine and a 51% attack on the ETC network is relatively affordable compared to BTC/ETH, so fake chains sprout up very often and many transactions would be reversed

That's why he said he will delete if you request, GDPR or not. They've helped me delete a previous account, change usernames, and delete comments- they are nice people and aren't trying to make anything difficult. They just don't want deleting to be as instant as reddit with a delete button which can easily disrupt archives- such as when you go into old threads on reddit on google, you see like half the comments deleted and that makes for a poor reader experience.
