Happy subscriber to Newsblur here too, I actually prefer it to Google Reader, primarily due to the high-quality iOS app.

As long as there have been cellular phones, they have been "fashion accessories". We all joke about the business guy with the giant phone, but that was the "iPhone X" of the 80's.

Probably because a large percentage of their customers don't actually care about expansion. I don't know - I don't have access to Apple's sales demographics, but I would be hard-pressed to think the reason was "malice".

That's essentially what I do. First page is all I expect the interviewer to read. My resume is 2 pages for >10 years of experience.
I agressively delete unrelated skills and promote related skills based on the job description.

Some ideas I've had luck with: Have one actionable item per email. State a question in the subject. Expect a clear answer (not quite "yes/no" but something definite). Spend a short time (one or two paragraphs describing the question in detail, but don't make it longer than that.
End the email with the question in the subject asked again.
EDIT: If you find that you need to have a conversation, either walk over to their desk or pick up the phone.

I believe the merging Sam is referring to here is augmenting human intelligence with non-intelligent (but better) machines. Kurzweil talks about this as well, and was one of the original options in Vinge's "Singularity" (https://edoras.sdsu.edu/~vinge/misc/singularity.html)

I'd be happy if my phone's autocorrect feature would actually produce sentences with proper spelling and reasonable grammar. Apparently that's still too hard for our mighty machine learning systems. I'm not going to merge with any technology that is worse than my stupid mush brain.
[edit - why am I still editing the spelling and grammar on this post?]

I don't know your background but "taking an Excel workbook and using that as requirements to drive an implementation" is not speedy. I've done this several times in my career and it's very, very difficult. Not because there is any "idealization", but because the reason the spreadsheet works is because a human is doing half of the work. These spreadsheets are not some "hello world" easy to understand product - they are the result of months/years of effort by a team of individuals which has grown beyond Excel's ability to handle. Translating that into code is not "quick and speedy" even if one is doing a like-for-like implementation.

Every single push-button start car I've driven has the ability of "engine off, radio on". On the downside my current car (2012 Mini Cooper S - push-button start) will only play the radio for about 10 minutes (??) after the engine is turned off.

I'd take this one step further. I love cooking, but not for every meal. Some way of automating the entire calorie delivery process with the correct amount of macro/micronutrients. Similar to Soylent - except tailored for me personally.
I'd still cook a few meals a week and I'd still go out to dinner, but it would be a rare occasion.
