You can disable file indexing. KDE is taking <1GB on my old laptop with 4G RAM. Its memory usage is comparable to Lxqt for me.

I see lot of people appreciating chatgpt. But I feel like it's too verbose, repeating the same things and almost useless when you need in-depth information. It looks like a high school students essay and not great for anything beyond that.

Maybe I have just given wrong queries, or the expectation is much lower these days.

Anyone knows how to remove many services (like akonadi) in KDE?

Also, LXQT starts up instantly from login screen, KDE takes 2-10 seconds even if I disable as many things as possible from settings.

Apart from that, I have a generally high opinion of KDE.

is there a go-to third-party documentation for spring (eg a book) you would recommend? I find official docs difficult to navigate. (which are either very narrow tutorial or in reference format, with important details omitted).

Doesn't matter. That's the most important thing that helps to get job here. Insane competition and qualifying questions for even low paying jobs are around LC medium.

Apart from the mutable keyword, can't these be implemented as a clang diagnostic plugin? Then it can be used to enforce a stricter style guide. As another commenter pointed, mutable will be probably of limited use anyway.

I think new languages with sufficient popularity (go, typescript, rust, dart) do it pretty well.

Old languages also have gained good tooling, but IMO the problem is that they are not as well documented as in-built systems of newer languages.

I find this comment amusing because most tasks the GP mentions are so specialized that you wouldn't actually have time to learn them. If your complaint is left pad and similar libraries, that's not what GP comment is talking about.

Exactly, but not discoverable. I came to know of esbuild, vite, pnpm etc.. only because of reddit and HN.
