Yes, it matters. You can try to distract and do as much mental gymnastics as you want but everyone rational can clearly see that one thing is doing politics for software (free drivers, open source, no DRM, …) and the other is about virtue signaling about subjects that are completely unrelated.
Btw, feel free to label me however you want (others did already), which shows that they have no arguments and resort to pidgeonholeing and name calling.

Your comparison is dishonest and wrong. printer drivers are a piece of software, sexual orientation is completely disconnected from software or technology.

I lament the times when open source projects were open source software projects instead of political platforms for people who arrogantly think that their private political opinion is important enough to overshadow the project they participate in.
This will undoubtedly create tensions and will lead to fewer donations, thus having a negative impact on KDE.

Another software project feels it’s necessary to dive into divisive politics when it should just make good software. It’s sad, really. Now what I think of when I hear „Zig“ is a community of self-important, immature and delusional people instead of thinking about the undeniable advantages of the Zig language.

tl;dr
To transfer patient data between doctors and (state) insurance companies, doctor‘s offices need to have a hardware VPN device. The system was implemented by the company „gematic“. A small number of companies produce these devices.
The certificates on these devices expire after five years. Now, instead of simply updating the certificates, the companies want the state and the doctors to buy new devices which costs around 400 million.
The CCC firstly explained that this is bullshit and a total waste of money and secondly showed that it is easy to update the devices. They could do it themselves but only need the private key from gematic.

This is sad to read, but I could never take Elementary OS seriously, due to the custom browser.
Not using Firefox (or even Chromium) is inexcusable. The higher integration of the custom browser (whose name I can't remember) does not even come close to outweighing the omission of Firefox with all of its mature features and add-ons. The browser is arguably the most important piece of software in a desktop PC.
Yes, I know I can install it. But then it is not integrated nicely and then why use Elementary OS at all?

How exactly is post encryption implemented? How do viewers decrypt the content (key management)? Where is it decrypted? In the browser? Server-side?
In the end for me the question is: How can I trust you to not leak my private posts? Why should I not continue using Signal groups? I realize that I’m probably not your main target group.
