Pidgin (and its OTR plugin) used to be the most popular client for OTR (Off-The-Record, an encryption protocol) messaging. That was my experience about 10 years ago and back then I think the plugins were known to be a weak point in its security.

I spoke to a few Alameda/FTX people over drinks before summer. They were delighted to brag about the lack of separation between the two entities. Really there wasn’t any.

Sure we add up the numbers, but there are thresholds for everything anyway. We might not be concerned about something within a 1MM range let alone a floating point inaccuracy. The uncertainty is accounted for already.

I got this too. Even with a strong interest in the business area and multiple hours of interviews going well: “You’d be a great fit here”, “You were technically strong”, … , “We don’t think you really want this job”.

I really wanted that job. That’s only the most recent, but I have had an overwhelming number of these experiences. I know my own worth, but to convince someone to actually let you work for them - impossible.

What do you mean by hide the uncertainty? To me Bayesian modelling is about making explicit the uncertainty.

I don’t really agree that Apple is similar. I am no Apple fanboy, but if you want hardware will all the same features, complexity and polish; in particular a phone, there is no competitor that can make an identical clone. Printing vinyl on a hoodie though, that’s a pretty well solved problem.

As for expressing yourself, does it really count? These brands are marketed at you in a million different ways. Then by purchasing what are you expressing?
