would you really bet that this is it? there is nothing beyond this?
reminds me of the famous anecdote of a 19th century physics professor who said "there is nothing left to be discovered in physics, only minor corrections"
then came Einstein...

I have this strange sensation that I can't put into words that somehow we are on the brink of unveiling an entirely new paradigm of AIs or perhaps even of combining AI with classical algorithms in a way to rapidly iterate between each other (and sensor data) that will instantly 10x or 100x current capabilities.
Anyone else feel this?

> Do you enjoy watching movies or series, reading comics? Going to the theatre (as in - not movies, but actual theatre)?
I really for the most part do not. I've not even seen any of the big oscar winning pieces everyone keeps talking about.
As I said to another commentator on here as well:
Without any disdain, I cannot bring myself to watch hours of another person's fantasy, when I could instead be shaping my own reality.

> Do you enjoy any fictional media? TV, movies, plays, interactive murder mystery dinners, tabletop games (d&d, etc)?
Nope, I truly live under a rock when it comes to those.
I've been wanting to watch the big ones (Hobbit, LotR, ...), but – and I say this with no disdain:
I simply cannot get myself to consume hours upon hours of somebody else's fantasy – when I could instead be shaping my own reality.

Interesting– Conversely, that is exactly how I feel about reading fiction.
To me, how can you possibly enjoy reading something some other person simply ... made up? Like an elaborate lie?
Contrarily, non-fiction tells it how it happened within the very reality I myself live in, subject to the same laws of nature and real psychology, and therefore, and only therefore, able to teach me something about real life on this earth.

> scientific understanding is not extraneous to experience; it is entirely about experience
Not true: Science is precisely about finding truths that hold even if our conscious experience of them vanished the very next moment.
> Empiricism, the grounding of knowledge in experience
Another false equivalency: by "experience" here he means "observation", not consciousness. Observations are data points, consciousness is not.

Not sure I understand your criticism.
Yes, bike bells are for pedestrians to hear.
Problem: Pedestrians today wear ANC noise cancelling, thus being unable to hear approaching bikes' bells.
Skoda: We made a bell with a frequency usually not cancelled by ANC, so these pedestrians still hear it.
Sounds reasonable to me.
