after well more than three decades of ice fishing, i am absolutely delighted to ask an LLM for an ffmpeg fish

and yet, i too know that it is perhaps not quite as good for me as finding the fish on my own lake

at least i can keep these fish in my own warm pond, and go back to them whenever i like

after decades of ice fishing, i think the LLM fish are quite good... and even when they are no good, that fishing experience makes it so easy to go back to the LLM and get the exact right fish for my pond

it will continue to be helpful for everyone in the future if we keep publishing the contents of our ponds, whether it's a web site like this, or in a repository

I generally prefer it to the default. It doesn't work as well on Claude or Grok for various reasons. I think it really shines on GPT o1-mini and GPT 4o.

There was a version of KA9Q NOS with multitasking that could serve telnet, ftp, smtp, bbs, convers, and more plus give you multiple switchable terminals for telnet, ftp, all at the same time on an 8088 and connect to a packet driver for modem, ethernet, or AX25. It was a port of BSD networking with its own multitasking capability.

Also PC/MIX was pretty cool.

While this intuitively seems likes good idea, his real life examples are severely lacking. This gets interesting when we see where the rubber hits the road, the causes and effects of what is being optimized for vs what is happening and we look deeply into improving that scenario.

Maybe at the point when this guy figured out that drinking a fifth a day was bad, and his insurance company was a piece of shit, he could have thought, I'll do something else. Jujitsu ? AA ? Heck, go to a church. Try one of those cheap ketamine clinics if you have to...come on, there are so many ways... I get it, you have insurance and it would be nice to use it but many, many medical interventions are flawed and the services are not going to fix your life for you. As this poor guy unfortunately discovered when he thought that his plan was going to help. No, it probably won't, and even a good provider may not be of much help.
