Interesting idea. My problem is that one “stream” usually spans multiple apps that silo data. So i have an email from a client and command line and a tab in chrome and maybe a note and an excel file. There are of course exceptions to this, but in real life we bring tools to the project not the other way around. Naturally some “projects” might have sub projects, or some might be transient - a quick email reply. You might organize your digital life this way - with virtual desktops, but why can’t the computer keep track?

Just a couple of ideas if you run out of backlog:)
- proper versionnumber (64bit)
- native json streaming. It would be awesome to get to the point where i could somehow redirect the sql output to the browser directly, but piping will do for now. The idea is to be able to stream rows to client without caching and building json along the way.

I guess it depends on what you build, i feel the most complex part of the deal, that makes me think the hardest, is to figure out what to build. Eg understanding the client, and creating a solution that fits between their needs and abilities. The rest is often a technical detail, yes sometimes you need to deep dive to optimize. Anyway if you miss debugging try debugging people;)

The gold nugget here is: your number one job as the business owner is: find new customers. Forget everything else. You must find ways how to talk to them, get them to trust you and tell you about their problems.
Forget scaling, google ads, until your customer #10, probably more. All your early customers will be from your network, real people you talk to in real world.
It is a chicken and egg problem - you don’t know what product customers need until you have customers. So go find them, build and try to figure out what they have in common.

Sure exists make sense if you dont need columns from the child table. Exists is also far from basic sql.

SQL makes it very hard to express real world requirements.
1. No easy way to limit child records count in joins - find all orders with orderproduct.amount is greater than X. Obviously this will genereate duplicates for orders that have more than one such orderproduct. So you slap a distinct on it… but what if you need an aggregation?
The possible fixes are highly non-trivial: subqueries, window functions, or vendor specific: outer apply.
2. Or queries, that is when you group where conditions with OR are very hard (impossible) to optimize.
Apart from the trivial case where the conditions are all on the same column, you are better of leaving the declarative world and imperatively tell sql to do a union.
I wrote a bit about it here: https://www.inuko.net/blog/platform_sql_or_conditions_on_joi...

It is time that democracies stop doing business with autocratic regimes. Not just some of them, because if everything is manufactured in china, which keeps doing business with iran and russia, it seems pointless.
At this point it should be obvious to everyone, that western money is (transitively) keeping all the worst regimes alive.
People stopped buying south African stuff, as an apartheid boycott, can we get some china boycott going?
