I struggled with family member names too until I realized I can create shortcuts for them (usually just their initials). Now I just type the shortcut and it always works. Joy!

I was a victim of bank fraud a couple of years ago. My bank was totally at fault (I caught it, not them) and they reimbursed me in full.

From what I understand, government insurance goes more towards bank failure, not fraud.

Because bikes go the wrong way up one way streets, ride on sidewalks, don't use lights at night and run red lights whenever they feel like it. Think Brownian motion. If there are a lot of them (and there are in New York City) the odds of getting hit by one if you're not super duper careful is high. Worse if you are older and don't see so good or move so fast.

I've seen e-bike collisions too. Unfortunately pedestrian's are still badly hurt or killed.

It's the same here in New York City. I've seen e-bike accidents and they are no picnic. The city does crack down on them from time to time.

I've done this. It can be hit or miss. Get a great team with a strong lead and you'll love them. Unfortunately there's quite a bit of opportunity over there so once you've trained them up, they're always looking for their next (better paying) gig with their new skills. It's rare if folks last past a year on your team.

On IOS there's Möbius Sync, which works perfectly with Syncthing.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. The Acella sucks if you have to depend on it. As does Amtrak. It's expensive and crappy. Public transportation is designed for getting people from the boroughs into the city center, not the other way around. If you use public trans for leaving the city it's very difficult to get from the train station to your final destination, there's just so few options.

I live in NYC (Upper East Side in Manhattan) and I don't think I could live without a car. It's just so nice to be able to leave whenever you want. On your schedule, in your own private space. I don't drive around in the city - driving here is stressful and a huge drag. But if you ever want to go hiking or biking outside the city, or leave for any reason, having your own car is a blessing.

I'm not saying you'll save money by owning a car here, that's definitely not true. It's a luxury item in this city. But it is very nice to have one at your disposal.

You can use the iPad as a second monitor on Windows too and it works nicely. I also use my airpod pro's with my Dell Windows XPS and it's perfect.

I rented a Model 3 from Hertz last year and drove about 120 miles in it. Due to the super cold weather (like 12 degrees), plus the fact that I drove in the mountains in New England, and I used the heat (it was freezing and I had my child with me), I had the charge the car 1/2 way there, which made me stop in the middle of nowhere for 30 minutes while I waited at a super charger. Honestly this experience stunk.

I think the Tesla is nice if you don't need to go anywhere too far. For trips stick to gasoline.

The issue is more that they don't care. They don't really need to track it so they don't.

Agreed - when I worked in the financial industry there was something called data lifecycle management. Since keeping data around indefinitely meant you could be held liable at any time for anything that happened in the distant past, companies are motivated to track data and delete anything that's no longer necessary for business as soon as possible.

No such law exists for Facebook, so they don't care. Someone needs to pass a law with a big fine attached and then things will change.

That happened a lot. Even worse, you'd buy a metro card, lose it, and find it only after it's expired. Why they would expire I don't know. Once it's expired it no longer works. You could mail it back to them and ask for a refund, but seeing as you aren't sure how much money was on the card, most people just ate the loss.

I for one, am not sad to see this whole thing go away.
