I already have a few improvements in mind:

- Comparison feature on the results page (to see 2-3 products side by side)

- 'Ranked' filter, so selecting USB 2.0 will also show USB 3.0 hubs since they are backwards compatible (there are some specific cases where this doesn't hold and you might want exactly a USB 2.0 port, but that's quite rare).

- Additional sources for pricing data besides Amazon

Show HN: Tool to find the right hub or dock for your specific setup

Hi HN, I had some issues finding the right USB-C hub for my specific setup and came up with this simple tool to make finding a hub or dock a little easier.

You answer a few questions and get a list of potential hubs and docks that fit your setup.

I've created two 'paths':

- one for non-tech-savvy people where you just select the types of devices you have

- and another version where you can select the exact version of each port (e.g. HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4) you're looking for, which is probably most fitting for this sub

You can switch between the two paths in the first question (how much do you know). You can also just jump straight to the results page to use classic filters to narrow down your selection.

I've tried to cover most types of ports, but there is definitely scope to make things more fine-tuned. For example it might be nice to have a filter for specific minimum resolutions and refresh rates (like 4k@120Hz), or specific performance under MacOS and Windows which is often different. I'll also add a comparison feature on the results page soon.

I was curious what people think about the tool, any feedback would be much appreciated!

Just tried Le Chat for some coding issues I had today that ChatGPT (with GPT-4) wasn't able to solve, and Le Chat actually gave way better answers. Not sure if ChatGPT quality has gone down to save costs as some people suggest, but for these few problems the quality of the answers was significantly better for Mistral.

Nice idea. Would be even better if you could manually adjust several of the values and it would adjust the missing ones in between. Now you can only base it on one single starting color.
