I think one important factor would be still being able to interact with a community of people who care for software and would like to put genuine thoughts. Whether it be for submitting bug reports, issues, PRs or security reports. Of course other platforms are not diverse as GitHub, it would be nice to see which other platforms are attracting such people. This in turn has a higher chance of interacting with such people.

I have a few projects on Github. I am receiving a lot of spam PRs and requests from vibe coders and bots. Most of them to prop up their profiles. The stars are obviously exaggerated too.
What other platforms are you using for your projects?

- Like every muscle, doing it by yourself, develops your brain's thinking abilities.
- Yes, AI can do whatever the brain can do, but that doesn't develop it.
- What sets humans apart is the ability to think about a situation and do something about it. The ability to think sets us apart. That ability should be developed regardless of what AI can do.
- AI could be better. So what? Comparing yourself with others is the root of disappointment and dissatisfaction. Compare yourself with yourself. Are you better today than you were yesterday?
- Competing with AI is an ever losing battle. Don't compete with AI. Develelop yourself.

One way for people to stand out from the rest and have a competitive advantage was to have good level of knowledge on something or be creative at something. Then trade that infinite ability for something fininte or satisfy your needs and wants with it.
Now with AI, this is at the hands of everybody and the competitive advantage is slowly diminishing. I understand the arguments about AI produced non deterministic output or a text prediction machine cannot achieve AGI. But that's not relevant. The intelligence provided by AI today already commoditizes it.
How can one stand out in this scenario?
