<p>It was too complex. Just making system calls require white listing libraries goes a long way of preventing a whole class of exploits.<p>There’s no reason a color parser, or a date library should require network or file system access.</p>

Along with Krugman and Kahneman, one of the few economics scholars that take the time to write a book for layman.</p>

<p>This is no excuse. At least in larger companies, you have safety inspectors that routinely visit shops unannounced and will give you and your manager trouble if you’re not following procedures. They answer directly to higher up and can’t be pressured into letting it pass.</p>
