600 have already been delivered. Covid caused a disruption in final certification, that's it. The F35 isn't being cancelled, although I predict most comments here will devolve into a debate of the plane's merits. The US and many allies are committed, the US will eventually own thousands.

Increasingly, single family detached homes in the interior of SF are owned by the very wealthy who can remain in the city to shape policy over the long term, while renters come and go. So don't expect anyone at City Hall to swing a wrecking ball in the direction of Pac Heights.

The problem has solved itself already - the US is big and empty. There is little reason to stack people twenty stories high in a Zoom economy. So much talk here of policy changes, LVT etc etc...just freaking move!! That's a very trite response but it also is the best one. If anything, the pandemic has taken a wrecking ball to the entire thesis of New Urbanism and dense development...many Bay Area residents have already figured it out, don't be the last to get the memo.

I don't personally have an account but everyone in my family does and their feeds are dominated by entirely benign family photo sharing.

The grinding sound is the pump trying to evacuate water. Your outbound filter is clogged. Look to the bottom left of the front of the unit, open the little door. Watch some Youtube videos on how to clean it. Agree with others that Samsung appliances aren't great, but if you inherited them like I did, you might as well learn the simple fixes.

For 98% of Californians, "muh fifth largest economy" has actually been a profound net-negative. I'm amazed people who pay $3k/month to rent to one-bedroom apt still trot this out as a brag point. "Fifth largest economy" has worked out well for the 1%, people who bought homes forever ago, and really no one else.

There are "real" companies using Perl presently...Booking and DuckDuckGo and others. Looking at Redmonk, Tiobe, other surveys...Perl isn't at the top of the heap by any measure but it also stubbornly refuses to die. I write Perl every day and frankly don't care if people think it is "dead", and even I am surprised at how prominent it figures in language surveys, still.

Most of the key libraries I use are updated regularly. Perl itself is under active development with regular releases.

The Fed Digital Dollar will be a purchasing instrument that exists only in an app or website. They will be added and subtracted as the government sees fit. If, for example, the government should want to spike consumer spending, they need only tell you that your account will have a maximum value of $100 as of midnight. Either spend the rest or it will be deleted.

Show up at a political rally for a group that is currently out of favor, your balance is deleted. Break the speed limit and your balance is deleted. Be home by 10pm or your balance is deleted. Pledge 10% of your balance to the poltical party currently in power and you can buy yourself forgiveness on your next potential balance deletion.

Buy gold.

A "ban" on gold would only achieve multiplying the spot price by ten overnight. It would be the final signal that fiat currencies should be avoided at all costs.

Almaden has been there since the 1800s. Lexington wasn't always just a reservoir, it was also once a town, going back to the 1800s as well. Hard to call them "irresponsible", they predate California urbanization.

It has to be torture for theaters now. Basically zero revenue for months while all of the bills and debts accumulate. Studios are quietly walking away through endless delays. Everyone will make less money in the future...home streamers don't pay per-seat
