Its not even just commonly used. I’d say if papers with code tried to refer to themselves as PwC they’d get a cease and desist.

Global government sounds terrible. Most people don’t live in western liberal democracies, so I assume a world government would be something other than that. I have no interest in living under a government that promises the average political, religious, personal and economic environment of the world.

I’d love to hear an IP lawyer weigh in on this, because I’ve never heard of this kind of thing before. It doesn’t seem correct that you can use trademark alone like this to extend beyond the actual word used in the trademark. Maybe it’s from licensing or something, ie maybe if a product uses the actual git product, then the git license means you can’t use the name as part of a word.

I don’t get why you would sell the land instead of putting it in a trust inherited by your descendants and leased to the city for some long period of time. Then everybody wins and the city can’t just decide to sell it to someone else.

Interestingly, George Boole did much of his work on Boolean logic in Cork, Ireland. He moved there as a math professor in the university in the depths of the great famine around 1850.

I personally have _no idea_ what the security posture of plaid is. I know they're a startup and made a bit of noise a few years ago, but if I was trying to buy something and a third party app popped up saying, "hey give me total access to withdraw directly from your bank account for a sec", why on earth would I say yes to that?

It also seems to go against common security advice. "Never log into your back account if redirected by a website you sort of, but don't really trust, except sometimes its alright and it's up to you to tell the difference" is a terrible way to secure banking.

It’s an imperial measure of the number of sentences in a story. The metric version is the “Gilgamesh”, a reference to a prototype story maintained by ISO in Paris.
