Thank you for clarifying and thank you for looking after the rescues!
I don't remember where I read it, but there was an interesting case for pairing abandoned parrots with veterans and people suffering from PTSD. Both suffer in similar ways, and were able to reduce their struggles together.
Could have been Bessel van der Kolk who mentioned it.

This must have changed at some point. It used to show popular videos in a private window.
You can still get a glimpse of what is out there by watching a specific video in a private window and looking at the recommendations.

Luckily the recommendation system does work to some extent. I'm glad I don't get to see any of that stuff on my youtube. Opening the front page in a private view is a scary place of hyper-optimised drama and attention seeking.
It's scary imagining people getting sucked into that :/

Except 4G/5G does not work properly in Australia. :(
It is some carrier configuration bullshit or something like that. There may be a way to make it work, but it did not look guaranteed after reading dozens of pages on forums on the topic. I ended up retuning the Sony I tried whilst I could still get a full refund.
Phones used to be exciting. Now it is just frustrating because all the good features are gone. Headphone jack, sd card, fingerprint sensor on back, unlockable bootloader.

The future is now. I personally know someone who does that. It's a fancy watch that only gets worn sometimes. And it's an automatic so it needs to be moved for it to keep running. So when they wear it every few days it is completely out of sync and they can't be bothered to adjust the time.
It is purely an accessory and completely useless for telling the time.
No judgment, but it just seems silly.
Apparently the correct way to solve it is to store the watch in a cradle that keeps it moving perpetually.

Just want to say that I appreciate you giving it a good go!
I feel a bit of guilt reading it though. I followed your app from when you first announced it on hn. I liked the idea and still think it's great, I am in theory the target demographic of wanting to learn languages as a couple, and yet it didn't stick.
For what it's worth none of the other language apps stick either.
Maybe it's hard to compete with the heroin-like hyper-optimised attention-drain apps that left all sense of ethic and morals long behind :/

I agree and disagree with you. These studies should be done with guaranteed payments for life. Otherwise it is just not representative.
I do believe that people would still work though. Personally I would like to do a useful job with real benefit to society, but the low pay makes it not feasible. I would still want to work part time at least instead of not at all.

My bad, I shouldn't have said tainted. Trustworthy is what I had in mind.
I moved my private repos to sr.ht ages ago because it was the open source, free software, ethical, longevitable approach. And stepping away from the mega corporations and everything going on with those.
I was wondering whether this was still the case.
