At a certain point I’d expect that tech sovereignty concerns will tip while governments out of the US-vendor mindset.

I’m seeing quite decent data analysis work done by otherwise busy people that they’d never otherwise have the time to do, supported by readable python code showing how the stats were generated, and allowing us to run actual experiments and rerun the stats to see if the analysis and suggested actions has a meaningful impact.

I don’t know about whether the trillions and trillions of dollar people are barking up the wrong tree, but this stuff I’m talking about is cheap and easy and we see the results.

When I lived for a while in the UK, my GP strongly suggested close monitoring for a couple of things, and we saw improvements in some measures with lifestyle changes. Others were “we’ll keep an eye on it, if it gets bad, off you go for an inpatient visit to get you an extra 10 good years”.

Back in the Netherlands I have to get pushy and even a bit obnoxious at my GP before they even consider the concern, let alone schedule a blood test.

If we can have billions of people organised - in their time away from formal work - into small working groups (“families”) generating a crazy amount of value for themselves and their communities, with no overarching management structure, what is possible today?

Franchises are often very light on layers of management yet have hundreds of thousands of workers.

The larger the enterprise, the less it has to look like an industrial firm.

Information flow, coordination and oversight don’t require layers and layers of managers, it’s just that those managers prefer it, since they’ve never seen anything else, they get paid more for “their important work” and have status for managing managers.

The fact that you don’t know about them is because many tech bros in the USA are pretty parochial and haven’t been exposed to international businesses or indeed tech.
