I think it is a bid problematic that anybody can create an account on github and open issues there (if enabled).
No "professional", paid software would allow ordinary users to communicate directly with the programmer. Or allow outsiders to post comments on their products website.
Just moving discussions to irc would already filter a lot of spam. As a last resort you could require some kind of proof that you are a maintainer of a bigger distribution. Or something in between.

First of all, of course one country should be able to influence other countries in the EU. That's the whole point of the EU.
Secondly, the waste products of nuclear reactors are much more problematic than CO2.
Handling of this waste is often overlooked when looking at the costs or CO2 footprint.
And that does not even touch the associated risks.

Change the system.
A blind focus on the concentration of wealth will only improve tech if it helps profit, will only improve lifes if it helps profit, will only protect the environment if it helps profit, will only influence politics to increase profits. It will try to create poverty because that eases exploitation. As you already hinted, the motivation has to change.

I second this wholeheartedly.
As a toy project I put a raspi with a small screen in my living room that would show the temperature and humidity for the last three days as a graph. It was somewhat of an eye catcher in the living room. The data was always interesting. Even if the humidity did not change much, at the very least you could always see that it was colder during the nights, which told me it was working.
It taught me so many things.
The effect of opening the windows short vs. long on temperature and humidity.
That the sun shining into my room was way more effective then my heating.
How the temperature goes down exponentially when my heating turns off, and how the length of the of/off cycles depend on the temperature outside. Etc.

You are confusing classical physics (the orientation of the atom) with quantum mechanics (the spin of the atom).
The spin of the atom can only be +1 or -1, regardless of the coordinate system (i.e. orientation) you choose to measure it in.
It is comparable to the polarization of light. You can filter it in a certain direction, but it, too, is a quantum property. While light cannot pass through two 90deg rotated polarization filters. Ir can pass if you put a 45deg polarization filter between them. That can not be explained classically.

I remember when Joseph Weizenbaum gave a speech at my university in a small town in Germany. The actual reason he came to Germany was to set up his funeral on a Jewish graveyard. At the time he was already ill. He said it is the first time he had to hold a lecture sitting down. He spoke in German.
The topic was "the special responsibility of a computer scientist" or something. He was talking about students at MIT, and how much of their research is funded by the military. How seemingly harmless programs like a talking Teddy bear would in the end up becoming part of a military drones etc. He gave a couple more examples and was suddenly talking about the sundown. How one can wonder when it is really setting. Is it when the lower side touches the horizon, or the middle. Or should one use the actual horizon or the apparent. Then all of a sudden he slammed his hands on the table, stood up and said in a said very loudly: But there is a difference between night and day!
That one hit hard. I think it changed me as a person.
He died a few weeks later. I never checked where he was buried. Maybe i should.
