So an enterprising drug-dealer can buy the house for a little baggie, hire the junkie to shovel the sidewalk, and rent it out, now everyone is employed, housed, and the free market actually absorbed the cost. The dealer will pay property taxes, to keep eyes off of the other business, the junkie will be safe and motivated to contribute, what else? Oh, social services jobs don't get to practice measured goodness to Skinner Box Volunteers, and it might hurt the cause to see photographs of the yard.

And then there are people who aren't families, without the knack for conveying a moving story, or exceptionally good in every way but unfair circumstances.

Many of these people, and not just the really, really bad nuisance ones people use as excuses to superiority, are literally slaves, performing the scarecrow work of deterrence as living examples, for "society", for no pay.

I think this is an injustice, subverted by its own cruelty, and one of the more compelling arguments for UBI.

Fair enough, but it is a political topic, and there are different and more confusing slices of the healthcare system exposed to patients than org spending breakdowns. Not sure how many of this thread's comments could hold water if falsification were universally applied.

I don't understand your question or your comments. I have not considered the relevance of execution to this discussion, but I do not see fines and imprisonment as the same categories of punishment/correction at all.

Nice comment, and true enough, but $37 aspirin and similar is a criminal fraud, and so are the laws not treating it for the coercive robbery it is.

Close to the same percent that doesn’t have employer coverage, they’re saying, those too old or ill to work fulltime.

I say convert SSA to UBI, set a floor, and let the price of things find a new level with more people in the marketplace:

“We have numbers” is always refreshing, especially in a shell game. Cost of all licensed medical practitioners? Or overweighting incomes of outlier CEO physicians? 25% is a steep tax on health in any case.
